What are fluconazole oral suspension or tablets?
FLUCONAZOLE (Diflucan®) belongs to a family of antifungal antibiotics. It treats fungal infections found throughout the body. These include oral candidiasis or thrush infections of the mouth or throat, candidal infection of the urinary tract, vaginal yeast infections, meningitis, and others.

How should diflucan be taken?

If I miss a dose?
Take the forgotten dose as soon as you recollect. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the one you missed and keep your regular schedule. Never try to "catch up" by doubling the dose!
Tell your doctor about all other medicines you are taking, including unprescripted medicines,herbal products ,or nutritional supplements . Also tell your doctor if you frequently take drinks with caffeine or alcohol,or if you smoke. These may affect the way diflucan works. Check with your health care professional before stopping or starting any of your medicines.
What side effects may I feel during diflucan treatment?
Side effects that should immediately be reported to your prescriber or health care professional:
• fainting or falling spells• irregular heartbeat, palpitations, or chest pain
• dark yellow or brown urine
• yellowing of the eyes or skin
• redness, blistering, peeling or loosening of the skin, including inside the mouth
• light-colored stools (bowel movements)
• stomach pain
• dizziness
• unusual bruising or bleeding
• skin rash, itching
• vomiting
Side effects that do not require special medical attention (visit your doctor if they continue or are bothersome):
• loss of appetite or changes in how food tastes• headache
• diarrhea
• nausea
What should I take into consideration during fluconazole treatment?
Tell your doctor or dentist that you take diflucan before you receive any medical or dental care, emergency care, or surgery. Tell your doctor if your symptoms do not improve within a few weeks. Some fungal infections need many weeks or months of treatment to complete cure. Keep taking your medicine regularly for as long as your prescriber or health care professional tells you to.
If you are taking this medicine for a long time you must visit your prescriber or health care professional for regular blood and liver function tests.
Alcohol can damage your liver. Do not take alcoholic drinks!
If you are pregnant or think you may be pregnant, tell you prescriber or health care professional immediately. Women who may become pregnant should use effective birth control while taking fluconazole.
